After many years of low staffing levels, we have finally begun to hire new members! We are still below safe staffing levels but contunue to make progress. The following new members have joined us in 2024: John White Chief of Department Dec 15, 2024 We would like to congratulate Captain John White on his promotion to Chief of Department. Chief White has been a member of our department for over 38 years! Chief White has been the acting Chief since April 2024. Congratulations Chief White, well deserved! Promotions as of October 23 2024 Dec 15, 2024 Promotions as of October 23 2024: Firefighter Iain McGregor to Lieutenant on Group 3. Lieutenant Samuel Parsons to Captain on Group 2. We wish them well in their new assignments! Promotions October 2nd, 2019 Oct 06, 2019 As of October 2nd, 2019 there were two promotions: Lt. Christopher Dillon was promoted to Fire Captain FF. Sam Parsons was promoted to Fire Lieutenant. Congratulations and we wish them well in their new assignments. New Hires (August 23, 2018) Aug 24, 2018 New Hires Two new Firefighter/Paramedics started with the Melrose Fire Department this week:  On Tuesday August, 21st FF. Michael Bell started with the MFD, Mike comes from Amesbury where he worked for 9 years. Mike brings many years of firefighting experience and patient care as a paramedic to Melrose. We want to wish him well as he continues his career here in Melrose. Retirements Jul 21, 2018 On June 29th, 2018 Captain Robert Kendall (Engine Co. 2) and Firefighter Scott Colborne (Engine Co. 2) retired from the Melrose Fire Department. Capt. Kendall was appointed on November 1, 1984 and FF. Colborne was appointed on June 29, 2018. We wish them both health and happiness in their retirement.  Pictured below is Group 3 with Capt.
